Last week, our very own Chris Hawthorne had the privilege of delivering training in Romania with members of the Romanian Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. The training formed part of an equipment procurement programme ahead of their upcoming deployment in the coming months.
EOD Technicians preparing the CSL 50Cal RW-MR M5 for deployment.
Chris thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge, offering essential safety guidance and operational tips for working with EOD equipment. The featured tool for this training was the CSL 50Cal RW-MR M5 (Rocket Wrench – Multi Role).
Never ones to make life easy, the Romanian EOD team put the RW-MR M5 through a rigorous test. In an effort to simulate challenging real-world conditions, they applied superglue (other adhesives are available) to the fuze thread and enlisted the strength of three robust team members to torque it tightly into the bomb body using an impressively sized spanner – reminiscent of those used in the days of manually deployed trackway.
With the fuze firmly fixed, they mounted the RW-MR M5 using the Super Torque Tubes, creating a demanding extraction scenario. While the team had previous experience with a different Rocket Wrench and were sceptical of its effectiveness, the performance of the RW-MR M5 in this trial proved otherwise.
We believe the footage speaks for itself, clearly demonstrating the capability and reliability of our equipment.
