CSL 32 SG

Steam Generator for use with Steaming Out Saddle

The CSL 32 SG is a trailer-mounted steam generation system designed to support trepanning-based UXO disposal operations by enabling the controlled removal of explosive fill through steaming-out techniques. Featuring two independently operated steam generators, the system allows operators to tailor output to suit munition size and operational requirements.

Powered by an onboard diesel engine, the CSL 32 SG produces high-pressure steam that is delivered directly into the munition casing via a dedicated steaming-out saddle. This controlled application softens and mobilises the explosive charge, allowing it to be safely removed without high-order detonation. All ancillary equipment is carried onboard, providing a self-contained and rapidly deployable solution for field operations.

Key Features:

Dual Independent Steam Generators

  • Allows single or dual generator operation depending on output requirements.

High Output, High Pressure Performance

  • Produces approximately 700–1400 litres of steam per hour at pressures up to 180 bar.

Integrated Water Reservoir

  • A 350-litre onboard tank supports 30 minutes of operation with one generator, or 15 minutes with both generators running.

Steaming-Out Saddle

  • Provides secure attachment to UXO using a tensioning strap and ensures efficient steam delivery into the casing.

Complete Onboard Equipment Storage

  • Integrated locker houses steam distribution manifold, hoses, cleaning lances, and essential tools.

Trailer-Mounted Mobility

  • Equipped with all-terrain tyres, spare wheel, NATO towing eye, inertia braking system, and stabilising jacks.

Typical Applications:

  • Steaming-out explosive fill following trepanning operations

  • Low-risk disposal of large-calibre or sensitive UXO

  • Render-safe procedures where fuze removal is not viable

  • Controlled demilitarisation of legacy munitions

  • EOD operations requiring minimal shock and thermal control

Why Choose the CSL 32 SG?

The CSL 32 SG provides EOD teams with a reliable, controlled method for neutralising explosive fill after trepanning, significantly reducing the risks associated with detonation or mechanical disruption. Its dual-generator flexibility, self-contained trailer design, and purpose-built steaming accessories make it an effective companion system to trepanning operations. Designed for field deployment and sustained performance, the CSL 32 SG enhances safety, efficiency, and control during complex UXO disposal tasks.
