Electronic Stethoscope
The CSL 900 EST Electronic Stethoscope is an acoustic monitoring system designed to support UXO render safe procedures by indicating the status of mechanically timed fuzes. This tool enables operators to monitor internal activity in real-time, improving safety and decision-making during critical EOD operations.

At the core of the system is a highly sensitive piezo-electric transducer, which acts as a microphone when placed in contact with the surface of a UXO. Any mechanical vibrations generated within the device are captured and converted into an audio signal. The signal is then amplified and delivered directly to a hard-wired audio headset, allowing operators to detect and assess internal movement.

The kit also includes a Doppler radar sensor, enabling remote detection of movement within packages such as bags and briefcases. This provides an additional layer of situational awareness for inspection and monitoring tasks.

For flexible deployment, the kit features a multi-position stand that allows the transducer to be positioned close to the target. A range of mounting options, including magnetic, suction, and g-clamp mounts, and supports direct attachment to various surfaces and configurations.

The CSL 900 EST includes two 3M ComTac headsets, each fitted with a talkback microphone, and a two-channel duplex amplifier. This allows two operators to communicate while simultaneously monitoring the UXO. The amplifier is powered by four CR123A lithium metal batteries, providing up to 10 hours of operation per set. For extended use, the unit can also be powered via a 12V DC input from a vehicle or an additional battery pack.

The delicate components of the EST are contained with specially cut foam sections within a ruggedised Peli Case. This makes it safe and secure for both transport and storage.
