CSL 31 FNK
Freeze Neutralising Kit
The CSL 31 FNK Freeze Neutralising Kit is a liquid nitrogen delivery system designed to temporarily disable the initiation circuits of battery-powered IEDs through rapid cryogenic cooling, enabling the safe completion of further render safe procedures. The system may also be used to neutralise certain types of UXO fuzes by applying extremely low temperatures using liquid nitrogen.

The kit comprises a 25-litre insulated dewar for transporting liquid nitrogen, a dedicated liquid delivery system with integrated safety controls, and a range of adaptors suitable for nose, tail, and side-pocket fuzes. Replaceable neoprene seals allow each adaptor to fully immerse the fuze, ensuring complete and effective cooling during application.

To support remote and stand-off operations, the kit includes a Remote Activated Injector Kit (RAIK). This system enables liquid nitrogen to be delivered into sealed packages via a hardened captive needle that penetrates the outer wall. Once deployed, nitrogen flow begins immediately, allowing the operator to withdraw to a safe distance before neutralisation takes place. The RAIK is capable of penetrating plastic and wooden enclosures, steel plates up to 3mm thick, and LP gas cylinders.

All components are supplied in a lightweight aluminium transit case, with the option to fit a stair-climbing wheel assembly to improve mobility in urban or complex environments.

The FNK comes with robust metal transport cases to protect the Dewar during transport.
Why Choose the CSL 31 FNK?
The CSL 31 FNK provides operators with a controlled, non-destructive method for temporarily disabling initiation systems without introducing additional energetic stimuli. Its modular adaptor system and remote injection capability support a wide range of threat types while maintaining operator safety. Designed for field deployment, the FNK combines robust construction with practical mobility, making it a reliable solution for specialist EOD teams conducting complex render safe operations.

Here you can see the Dewar connected to the RAIK in readiness for the device to be deployed.

As part of the protective transport case, the FNK includes a stair climbing feature. We are currently improving this to make it even more efficient.
